| BETT 2010 |
| Thank you to everyone that came to see us at BETT, especially with the bad weather. In the West Midlands we had a lot of snow and it was strange to see people going to work on their skis…. It was a very exciting time for us especially having new technology which was SNOW cased on the stand. Genee World released a number of new products which included the Pebble handsets, Genee Scope and the Wall Talk Digital Signage System. To celebrate our 10th Birthday we provided schools and authorities with a Golden ticket so they could purchase technology at 50% discount. This was a huge success with a lot of new schools now enjoying the benefits of using Genee Vision Technology. Here is an overview of our latest products |
| Pebble Handsets |
| The new handset is called Pebble and it is our new interactive learning reponse system which has a streamlined design that is easy to grip, so is ideal for early years and special educational needs students. The system has full interoperability and flexibility and works excellently with the latest version of Genee World’s ClassComm software which allows teachers to create lesson plans quickly and easily, as it is compatible with PowerPoint. The system also works seamlessly with Genee World’s Cens-Us software which allows the teacher to set ad-hoc questions in just three clicks as the lesson or subject matter is delivered. With it’s simple to use layout of colour coded response keys on the pad the Pebble is set to create a breakthrough at all educational stages through unprecedented opportunities for pupil participation and assessment. The system also gives the student an opportunity to express themselves with yes/no, true/false, numeric, and multiple choice answers. It is also ideal for polling, and with the ClassComm software there is built in games which convert the answers and speed of response into “race games” showing who the leaders are in a virtual race. | | | |
| Pebble is designed with a range of simple to understand symbols on the handheld remotes that students of all levels of ability can use to answer questions anonymously, and so helping them remain engaged in lessons. Teachers instantly receive data on the inputs from the class and so can immediately provide support to pupils at exactly the time they need it. The system also recognises the pupils that need to be challenged further. With instant reporting and assessment built in, as well as working with PowerPoint, teachers have no need to learn new software when preparing or using pre-prepared subjects or lose time marking at the lesson end, so providing them with more time to teach. |
| Genee Scope |
| The Genee Scope is a highly portable digital microscope for inside and outside the classroom that works with a laptop. It has a USB connection allowing you to magnify, capture and modify various images. This device has hardly any moving parts and is strongly housed in a plastic case enabling high durability and minimal maintenance. It is powered by a USB from the PC/Laptop and uses low energy, making it one of the most environmentally friendly, green 21st century classroom solutions. | | | |
| The Genee Scope has many educational benefits, for instance, it aims to draw attention to the likely advantages of adopting more innovative forms of student assessment. By doing so it highlights some of the central qualities of so called modern assessment practices contrasting these with the qualities of traditional forms of student assessments. One example is the SATS, which are no longer carried out by schools. Testing a pupil’s knowledge through such tests will only allow them the ability to recite facts and figures, which are usually crammed in beforehand and then forgotten afterwards. In contrast the scope is a unique tool that will test for depth of knowledge, it assists a teacher to continually assess and record a child’s strengths and weaknesses on an on-going basis. It aides the teacher to be familiar enough with their students work to be able to recognise weak or potentially weak areas in their development. The Genee Scope is also suitable for sharing amongst students, one scope between two works effectively as there are no power issues. |
| Wall Talk Digital Signage System |
Wall Talk is a cost effective, intuitive digital signage system for users desiring professional digital displays without the need for a programming specialist; it offers flexibility for the experienced programmer and intuitive digital signage system design for the novice. With its simplicity to use users can just plug and play. It can integrate Video, Graphics, Animation, Power-Point presentations, Virtual Learning Environments, web-pages, Wi-fi, RSS and many more audio visual elements and manage them through a data network for display in remote high performance display devices and LCD screens. Wall Talk makes distributing your content and managing your signage system easy and affordable. The network manager software allows users to easily manage a network of up-to two hundred screens, with powerful administration tools. The instant messaging function can immediately override scheduled content to notify people of urgent information. Since the Digital Signage System is very user friendly and accessible it allows a number of staff to remotely control the screens throughout the building. It gives users the option to have total control in design and add extra displays at later stages. | |
